It has been feeling so lovely going through some of the posts here and trying to remember people I knew some 30 years ago.I say to myself, yeah, I remember him or her....or yes, that was one of my favorite teachers. Now,have the faces only changed?"Chehra yeh badal jaata hai...par teri awaaz to pehchaan hai...." remember that song from "Kinara?"
Now a little bit about myself.I was at St. Vincent's till the 5th grade and then we left for Assam. Some of the other batchmates of mine were Amprapali Das, Jahanzeb( who had jumped to our class after a double promotion),Sailesh (can't rememeber his last name, but remember where he lived: Bijipur??), Jagjit Singh, Gautam Acharya, Prashant Padhy, Padmaja, Gurmit Singh etc etc.My brother, Ashish, was two years senior to me at SVC, and I think his friends included Julian, Tarun Palit, Smita Panda, Lakshmi( Padmaja's sister),Praful, Mukund etc.He left for Rishi Valley in 1974 and I bet he too has some beautiful memories of his years at SVC.
The Assam saga lasted for three years and Dad( who worked for the Central Government) was soon transferred to Mumbai, where I studied from the 9 th grade onwards till I completed my Masters in Clinical Psychology,in 1989.I moved to the US the same year, to join my hubby, and have lived here since then.
Have been working as a Social Worker at a skilled rehab facility since 1993 and have enjoyed it immensely.Recently, a friend of mine from my school in Mumbai got a lot of our our batch mates together on FB and that has been an incredible experience. And this, was the icing on the cake!I hope I have not bored any of you, but the truth is, I have just been carried away by this whole experience.Anyone, who is from my batch, please do get in touch. Can't wait to hear from someone I knew from the past....till the next time then,I will sign off.Yeh dosti, hum nahin todenge....

Welcome to the fantasy land Nivedita. great to see the family expanding.
I am sure Vims has already located Ashish and very soon he too will join us.
Nivedita, Not a single name sounds familiar - Except Jagjit Singh!!!
He is one of my personal favourites...Never knew he was a SVC product!!
Ye daulat bhi le lo, ye shoharat bhi le lo
Bhale chheen lo mujhase meri javaani
Magar mujhko lauta do bachapan ka saavan
Vo kaagaz ki kashti, vo baarish ka paani
Vo kaagaz ki kashti, vo baarish
ka paani,
Badi khubsoorat thi vo zindagani!
How I wish it was THE Jagjit Singh, Faiyaz....that would have been great, but as I recall our Jagjit was not so "surila...not asingle name sounds familiar, huh?? Really, kahan gaye yeh log???
Thanks, Arun and Omkar for the warm welcome...and btw, hope you liked the song,Omkar...I have been a RJ here in Atlanta, and played this song whenever I got a chance:-)

I think now you need to curtail Nivedita's postings ! As per the rules of the blog -photos- are the passport for any entry.
How can you be so lenient with the fairer sex ??
Photo journalism please !!!!!!!!!!!
hey Nivedita - correct me if I am wrong - but I recall ages ago (I was very pregnant with my first one ) ) while I was having a dosa at a desi joint (indian delight ) - you were sitting behind me and actually recognized me and we got to talk some about our friends in Bam - esp your neighbour Reena ( who btw is now 'reachable' thanks to Vim ) I am glad you found your way to all of us - are you still in Atlanta ? IF so lets plan to get together
How can Sheila be wrong? Right?
Correct me If I am wrong.....
Hi Nivedita,
It was amazing connecting with you again.
Faiyaz, you always make me smile with your posts!
Hey Sheila, you are absolutely right! We met, what 10-12 years ago and then kept in touch by phone. And I really do not remember how we lost track of each other after that. I still live in Atlanta, and am assuming you too.We have to get together and catch up pretty soon, what say?
And Reena, getting back in touch with you and Ritu was the best thing that has happened to me in a long, long time...
Naresh, I will post some pictures soon, but remember, darna mana hai!!
I just feel sad that there is hardly anyone out there from my class...but I am hoping someone, somewhere will eventually reach out...
So, RJ eh? In Oriya? Here in DFW, we have Punjabi, Telegu & Bangladeshi other than Hindi, of course. We are planning for a small slot.
Do y'all broadcast on the net too? Let us know when u RJ, and if its feasible to listen to you.

I am hosting a 'women only' luncheon on sunday - if your schedule permits - would love to have you join us (casual , desi home cooked food )Call me and we can catch up (4-3778454,leave me your number if I miss you )

Omkar- Thanks for that link. We were transported back in time to those lovely days at Bam and Ctk listening to these great Oriya hits on You Tube. Strangely I couldnt find any songs from 'Sesa Srabana' there
