god in the times of ? stupidity

the cawing of the crows seemed loud and harsh in the preternatural quiet. of course we r routinely woken up by birdsong every morning- but this was a sunday, and evening time at that. but the curfew had stopped all vehicular white sound and that left only the crows returning home at dusk to voice their feelings. they must be cawing abt the stupidity of humans and discussing whether this would mean more food for them or less. we r in the midst of the first curfew i have seen ( in sangli) and the cause is as usual god nd manipulations by humans in its name. ganapati passed peacefully but come chaturthi and suddenly an arch constructed by the mndal depicting the disembowelment of afzal khan by shivaji was offensive to the muslims. and thus started a charade ridiculous in its non- thought. rumours flew fast and feelings were stoked by both sides alike despite a few well intentioned pleas of reason.
there were a few facts of course- the mob jumped onto the jeep of the sup of police and brandished a green flag, the idols were stoned and then spirited away to avoid immersiona nd thus keep the issue smoldering or simmering and of course stray incidents of violence as well when people stoned glass facades ( more out of jealousy and the fact athow it must feel to hear somebody else's glass shattering with such a satisfying final crash- so u think u r some hot shot - having all that shiny glass fronting ur establishment?). but then the rumours that followed were ludicrous- THEY had put a dead donkey into the precincts of the mandir. then of course THEY had deposited a dead pig at the masjid. the jains did not want to b left behind- THEY had also deposited meat inside their derasar. so we have here a god who cringes at the sight of a dead donkey ( poor beast of burden whose _ " i too had my moment of glory - when i carried the lord into jerusalem" must be his only moment of happiness) , a pig ( again a much maligned creature who earlier being slaughtered for food now finds itself at the receiving end of a mass death sentencein the name of a flu misnamed swine, despite having 4 strains only 1 of them being porcine) and also one who in the name of ahimsa cannot bear to look at meat and yet pays no heed 2 the unheard voices of the vegetables( they must also be saying - spare me, oh dont eat me - i have no voice but def have life).
r our gods so restirctive? can they not turn around and tell the stupid humans- this too is my creation, perfect in its instincts, serving its purpose well and def more beloved 2 me than u. i would rather admit to heaven these wonderful patient and long suffering beasts of burden, scavengers who remove refuse that u so indiscriminately spill on ur streets and that piece of flesh that once was a good animal , sacrified unnecessarily 4 ur nefarious ends than take a so called pious human, who in my name has slaughtered, plundred and raped this lovely planet and laid waste to it. let me restore the garden of eden 2 its former peace by just removing 1 stupid creature - u , the man who was supposed to b made in my image but who has in his arrogance destoyed my credibility.

Well said, Alps. This madness should end.
Incidentally ammoro Orissa has one of the worst track records on this count---anti-Bengali and anti-Muslim riots in the late 60s, anti-marwari riots in the early 80s, and the recent anti-Christian riots in Phulbani region.

I, Arun Kumar Nostradamus, do hereby predicteth that two score and a half years later there shall be a treatise written that shall bear the following title: "Afzal the secular & Shivaji the parochial marathi manoos: A study in contrasting lifestyles."

This will be followed with street violence and more bloodshed following which the grand-daughter of Dr. Alpana will blog about the relevance of God in modern India...

Life shall however go on and on and on....

This is indeed unfortunate!!!
No matter how vociferously Chetan Bhagat--(who claims to know the pulse of the Indian youth) in the Times editorial, makes tall claims about fanaticism having lost steam for the generation now--how then would he explain such frenzied, insane violence ???Its not the IITians or the IIMs that constitute the now gen but the lumpen who need to be educated how not 2 walk into trap ofnarrow parochial rabbidity so dexterously laid by politicians to further their vestd interests11 !!!! We need an EDUCATOR ---a CLOSET one will not do...
