Okay, okay, so now my head is reeling with all these flattering comments, thank you...and I really feel embarrassed!Ab to lagta hai, marna zaroori hai...mere liye :-) And Faiyaz, you make me laugh!Omkar, I do remember Ms.Purnima Panda: where is she now? Vimal, any idea? And yeh ladki bilkul paagal hai.....Arun,jiski tasveer aisi hai!!!
I'm BAAACK!!! And what a great way to come back to the blog. OK Faiyaz, here is a ladki's comment - you are GORGEOUSs Nivedita, defly 'Holly' worthy!! I am sure we did not cross paths at SVC. Where are you located in the US? We should talk!
"Is ladki ko dekha to aisa laga---jaise shayar ke khwab-jaise-----" Now that you have posted your picture welcome again to the blog Seetha-- Good to have you back!
Hey Seetha~~~welcome back; not sure how long you were gone for, but good to have you here! I can't seem to remember if our paths did cross at SVC: I left Bam in 1976. I live in Atlanta and you? Yes, we must talk soon... After all these comments, NO MORE pictures of me, Faiyaz, but I must say that sab ki ankhen zaroor kharab ho gayeen hain...jaldi inka ilaaz karayen!!
Venu, where at? Should I complain about you? JK! Purnima Panda was Pinky's (also known as Jayshree Panda)aunt. Pinky was my classmate till the 5th and then she and a guy called Santosh Patro got double promotion and moved to the 7th standard. And yeah, would love to locate Ms. Punima Panda!!!
Nivedita is right. Pinky was 3+ years my junior. Purnima Panda, her aunt was a tacher at SVC. She was quite a "sensation", with her bell bots, elegantly flashy (oxymoron?) tops, and a killer bod to match. Perhaps we find her pictures in sedate clothes in this blog, as I'm sure Sister Rosalie (Rosalind? Roseline? Stanley Sir?) must have had the "talk".
I'm not kidding, I do not remember what she taught ;-)
Arun, so it would go thus - CTC mein yeh, woh hai, aur bahut kuch hai, BAM mein kya hai? BAM'purias reply - Humaare paas PP hai!!! CTC waale say, "Well you BAMpurias have a point there" ;-)
Sailesh's surname was Chawda. His brother Hemant was my classmate. They used to stay in Bijipur, near the junction, close to a shop selling Bong (Bengali) sweets. I think it was Annapurna or Calcutta sweets (forget the name of the shop). I don't know where he is but Hemant is in Gandhidham, Gujarat.
And yes (please don't mind my saying so) but I agree with the rest of the SVC bloggers that you look glamorous. Your picture sure has added some sparkle to the blog. You could put girls like Deepika Padukone in the shade.
And replying to Venu's comment on Nivedita's picture, Purnima Panda is not Pinky Panda. Pinky is Purnima's niece!
Hey Henry....Thanks for the update on Hemant. Yeah, I do remember Sailesh had a brother by that name and they lived on the first floor of that building. But I dunno why I kept thinking their last name was something like Kesa..???? Pata nahin dost, sab thoda dhundla dhundla sa lagne laga hai! And I remember their was also a pan/soda shop where my family used to stop by to get our dose of Coca Cola/Fanta on our way back from movie nights at Jyoti Talkies or Utkal or after catching an English movie on a lazy Sunday morning at Vijaya Talkies....thanks for bringing back these memories and welcome back on the blog. BTW, when did you graduate from high school? Was Julian your brother by any chance?
You are right, Nivedita, his surname initially was Kesavaram. Later on, he changed it to Chawda. I was not sure whether it was Kesavaram or Jairam, hence I gave u the Chawda surname. Thanks for jogging my memory.
Read your post on your sister. I am terribly sorry to hear that she is no more. Don't worry, the thought that she is in heaven should comfort you. She is with you, giving you silent support always.
Sorry, I forgot to mention. I appeared for my ICSE in 1974. I was in the first batch of three students (repeat three!) who did their ICSE from the school, and the only guy. The other two were Himani Lade and Krishna Veni. I don't know where Himani is, but I think Krishna is still in Berhampur.
Thanks, Henry, for jogging your memory: now lemme see how much I remember: did Himani Lade have a brother called Deepak Lade? He was my classmate! And your brother Julian was my brother's classmate.Do you also remember Rudolf,Vincent and Douglas, by any chance? I tell you , its a small world...
Yes, you are right. Deepak is his name. I don't know where he is now. And yes, I know Douglas, Vincent and Rudolf, who used to stay in the railway colony. Douglas was Julian's classmate. Yes, it's a small world, indeed!
Hey Henry, what was the last name of Douglas ,Rudolf and Vincent? They also had four sisters: Mary, Marianne,Patsy,Queenie and Katie,if I am not mistaken. They lived close to our place and I remember the younger sisters really well !
The name was Abraham. Sorry for the terrible delay in replying. I was on holiday in India and after I returned last month, got busy, so didn't have time to check on the blog. Sorry about that again.
