heya Vim!!!!!
All of u from SVC/ Berhampur
Vim, you always were a sweet, loving, great guy.....
thoroughly unspoilt by money/looks...the normal things that spoil relationships.
It doesn't surprise me the least that u are still the very same vimal Parmar!!!!
Ye, we all get easily bogged down with (1)career (2)marriage (3)hubby (4)children (5).............
theres no end to the numerous excuses we trump up.
Thank u for this rejuvenation of moments nmemories.....
As Rayla's big sis and Hema's class 8,9,10 teacher, i cherfully join in to let the past surface again.
Olga david (Ray's n mine) our sis is a MKCG Medical College doc .She's so thrilled that such a thing as a blog is there where u guys n gals have been so openly expressing ur inner self AND without inhibitions!
It absolutely took me on a mighty high yesterday when I went thru yr posts.
Yea,yeah. It was ages ago .AND all those cobwebs have turned to steel!!!!!!
I might need a diamond cutter to clear t clutter of the past 30 years!
Last year my parents, Mr n Mrs David of the Gopalpur Lighthouse fame visited Bam! They were treated to this by Olly(Olga)who had her MKCG Alumni meet at Bhubaneshwar. My ma, Grace David was a teacher at SVC for donkeys years. She too was so happy to hear of this modern means of communication calld BLOG.CAN YU BELIEVE IT VIMAL , THIS IS THE FIRST TIME AM WRITING IN ONE? Sam , my very computer literate hubby guided me (!)
Ofcourse I got his usual comments,"Don't act as if u r so ignorant!!!!" OR , "Don't show ur ignorance"!!!!!
Whatever it is ,am so thankful to u Vim for this chance to get into the ole blanket of t past and dig up the wonderful, carefree, youthful days!
I was amazed at the memory of Enarkay.(so sorry enarkay,my memory is a lilbit more than normally wooozy.......I don'remember much....but the name Anu, woke me up!!!!She was a real good pal of mine.....u won't believe it she was my heroine in all the Shakespearean plays that we enacted .Both in Women's college and in Khallikote college)But for NRK to remember NOBODYS CHILD, was a bit too much!!!!! Am so J of thfantastic memory that u possess,NRK.
Another thing,NRK, Could u tell Anu that I sent messages to anyone who had t surname Nabhi asking if they knew her.In fact I got a reply from some very sweet girl calld Kayla that she was only 16 and that maybe Anu was a relative.
So Vimal, what else is news? How are ur parents? What about ur family?
My hubby Samuel n I have 2 sons Anudh (25) and Akash (19).We are in Muscat.Am a lecturer in a banking college here, teachng foundation English.Sam works in Omantel,a local telecom comp.
You also mentioned Shammim. We too look back and remember the fantastic human being that she was.She is very fondly remembered by all of us for her extreme kindheartedness and love for all fellow humans!!!!
This is a lot that I wrote.
What I want to add is that I had a gang of very loyal students who were more my friends than students!Hema would recall what n why!!!!!!
My love to all you wonderful gals n guys, and especially yu Vim who made it possible for us to drool over the past and look back without any whimsical notions that we are better or worse than the other.
Oh by the way, i never taught in Sambalpur.
All the best for this very funtabulous exercise.

Wow Thelma..! Feels good to have you here... Thanx for such a detailed post and thanx for all the kind words... As a family you all shared so much with us in school.
There is something that i have always wanted to thank you for... guess what? In school we used to have these elocution contest and i would never participate. Probably stage fear, not having the right content or whatever... One day i gathered enough courage and participated in one such competition. I did not win a prize but you asked Rayla to convey to me that i spoke well and will have to put in some more effort. That one line comment from you made me so confident about my ability to deliver a talk that as a member of the Rotaract Club in college to debating on a strategy at work to addressing a large gathering during a new product launch or managing a workshop pertaining to my area of work has been so easy... Thelma, just that one encouraging line from you has made so much of a difference. Thank you so much...

Welcome back from oblivion, Thelma!
I know you were a good chum of my Aunt, Anu. She is now at Jagatsingpur, near Cuttack. Her hubby works at UcoBank, and she has taken retirement from teaching.

BTW, Kayla is my niece at California, and she has not travelled to India so far. The only relative she knows of is me, as I'd visited them a few times. Therefore she would not know of Anu.

Welcome aboard Thelma! I had met Anu recently. I have passed on your message and Anu was thrilled to hear from you.
BTW you probably know me as Krishna (remember our trip to Faizabad representing Bam Univ Badminton along with Kavi, Rita , Suryaprakash and others? Check post dated April 18th 2009 for our photo). The name NRK was coined in SVC probably by Stanley/Henry. Post you current photo soon

NRK: You mean Kavi Grewal? She is in US... Even her sis Livneet is in US. Her younger sis Sonia is in Chandigarh. I met Sonia when she was in Ambala. It took me about 2 hrs in Patiala followed by 2 hours in Ambala to locate her... Unfortunately lost touch now.

Vimal: Yeah I mean Kavi Grewal. She was in our badminton team alongwith Thelma and others We had a great trip to Lucknow, Faizabad and Ayodhya in 1979. Unfortunately the photos were taken by my Agfa box camera and are faded now. It would be nice if someone could contact Kavi

Thats great!Today Ive no class so here go>>>>>Vimal,You are blessed with a fab memory. Not only that, you are a very sentimental and loving guy, like NRK and so many others who have commented on my long note.Am still having a tough time dealing with my steeel cobwebs!!!
Vim, that my words of encouragement di a lil for u,puts me on a high!
My stint at SVC as a teacher for the class 10 was marred with some very unsavoury events and the way my students stood by me is something I have to mention 'cos, that is what taught me what loyalty is!
Vim,life goes on and the best thing to do isto pick up the positive vibes and discard the positively neg ones.
I am so very grateful to NRK for the prompt way u got me thru to Anu.She replied my SMS with a call.It was an amazing feeling.Feel like catching the next flight to jagatsinghpur!!!!
I also want to know if anyone has any contact with Deepak Lade.Or, any of his classmates .I taught that class.I also recall Hema's (Vim's sister) class who supported me then.
Is there any way I can contact Miss Shammim?
Love u guys.U are doing a great job.
Life would be so simple and yet so wonderful if we all kept in touch and never let go the fab times we've shared.
THEL

Ashu,
That was a very "pesky " note!!!!!
Were u in Hema's clas?
I need a lil refreshing.
so sweet of u to have kept my letter!Must be brittle and in tatters by now!
Keep digging thru my metal cobwebs and help me resurface.
Abha,
thanq for the warm welcome.
Am here to stay!

Kausty said...

Miss Thelma,
The class 10th you mentioned was the batch which had Hema, Ashu, Seema, Shanti, Rajlaxmi, Santa, Susmita, Harpreet, Paul, Ashok, Bibhu (sorry to say he is no more) and yours truly.
I did confuse your name for some time with another teacher of mine, with a similar profile in Sambalpur, but now the memories of you as our class teacher have come back.

thelma/david/samuel said...

Heya Kausty,
This is indeed thrilling stuff!
Its almost like resurrection.Trully goose-pimpled all over when I saw ur comment.
Are yu in touch with all ur classmates?
Isn't Bibhu,Padhi? The very brilliant guy? Am really sad to hear that he's no more.Isn't he ranjana Padhi's bro? What a waste!!
How is Paul?Is he still at Bam?
Where are u now?
Thanq soo much for the note.
Don't stop.Just continue.
For all this, Thanq Vim!!!!!
Thel

Kausty said...

Paul Sahu and Ashok Agarwal are in Berhampur. I know that Louis, Stanley and Henry's younger brother is in touch with them.
Myself, am in London trying to survive the downturn in my industry !

Boy! Ms. Thelma, I know we SVCians are very loyal to our teachers but u seem to have taken the cake.

Say, were u a student first and then a teacher at SVC?

Also, would you know the whereabouts of Ms. Mabel Vincent? Even the great Vimal hasn't been able to locate her, I might add, yet.

Seetha said...

Hi Thelma, sorry to say I truly do not remember you. But from all the comments I am reading, I wish I did. Anyway a humble welcome to the blog from me, Seetha, I was at SVC from my baby class to 7th std (1962 to 1970)

thelma/david/samuel said...

Kausty,
Thanq for the prompt reply.
AND,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
My sonna has just come home (yesterday) for his winter vacation. Thus the distraction.
We are having a long weekend for eid until saturday. So we are making the most of it.
Glad that u guys still keep the memory thread intact.
Let it roll !!!!
Life is too short for remorses and reprisals and ......
What are you doing in cold ,cold England?
U too could ask me just what I was doing in Hot,hot Oman!
Please keep in touch and ,have a great life!

Stanley David said...

Thelma,

We used to visit your Lighthouse frequently --we used to stay in the Nook. You were the nearest thing to the Von Trapp family during that 'Sound of Music" era.

Good to have you in the blog --both you and Rayla have a free flowing balladeer style of blogging --which bodes well for the blog --As Seetha said, thanks to Vimal again....

thelma/david/samuel said...

Heya Stan!
I guess its OK to call u that cosidering that we do know each other (or we did know). All that Ive to do is to exercise those awfully rusted brain cells!!!
Thanq! Thanq so much for t reply, n the mention of t VonTrap stuff.Ray and Olly still flex those gusty vocal chords.Oli, who was the quiet one has totally taken over and plays the keyboard/plays exquisite guitar and actually leads the service at Kuppam.Ma n dad support her too.
My son akash is on to music in a casual way.
The days at bam n gops were such fairytale-like days .Wish we all could delve into the past and revisit those fab moments that were so innocently yet intricately woven.
You are in Bangi now ,Right?
Maybe we can relive those days when we meet and include our sons ,daughters, husbands n wives in such a way that we knit them into the web that we today call t past and make them a part of it.
Have a great Christmas

Faiyaz! Heya!
You must have been a kid when I taught at SVC.Are u Ray's classmate?
Please make it very very clear cos

Ye we are in MCT.Since 1994.Our kids were 5 and 10 when we came here.Sam my hubby works in Omantel .looks like u 2 follow similar occupations.
After 15 years sam took me to Dubai.Great place .Great shopping.Maybe if I were 20 years younger I'd have loved it.
MCT is real quiet and clean.Am sure that u know all about Mct.
Thanq guys for giving me such a warm welcome.Everyone of you who wrote on the blog added a lil halo to my very ole head!!!!
God bless. Regards to Nargis
