Macro Photography

Some experiments in macro photography… Orange, broccoli, corn flakes, banana peel and channa choor… Thatz how I spent my day today! Will go out for dinner in an hour or so… some fast food joint for a quick bite – probably Subway… Shivani’s favourite. Vani is busy packing as she is leaving for US shortly. Sera, my pet boxer, is wondering what she would get for dinner as she has sensed we are going out. Ashu called in the evening. She has been quite busy with guests at home. She has promised to be back on the blog very soon..! Hope you folks have a great week ahead… Keep blogging.

Next time, Seetha or Vimal, when you do micro-photography, please don't tell us what object was used. Throw it out to us SVCians to guess.
It would be great to see how each eye sees things differently.

Sorry for the typo - micro or macro?
What would you do in micro-photography? - scientific research or forensics?
(I know how to edit the posts I have created but cannot figure out how to edit comments- help please!!).

Sujata even I was confused about the use of macro and micro in photographic parlance. However good old google tells me that such kind of close-ups where the minute image size is maintained at same as the actual and upto 1:2 is called macro photography and not micro as we laymen use it.

So the other 3 are, peeled banana skin, and 2 kinds of cereal?

I am going for my bifocals today, seriously! Have been needing it for a year at least.

Vimal, your pictures remind me of how I used to look forward to a magazine called "Life" in the 60s. Famed for publishing great pictures, er photographs ;-)

Sujata: Macro is same as close-up photography. Where the actual size of the image is reproduced on the actual film (earlier) or sensor (in digital cameras)is either 1:1 or 1:2 or so ratio. Basically going very close. This makes the picture unique coz normally even with a naked eye we do not go so close to a subject.
In case of micro photography, we use a microscope to shoot the image. In this case the image is magnified many times on the film / sensor.
The most cost effective way to shoot macro is to use a compact digital camera. Believe it or not, in the micro mode (the icon on the camera is a flower) these low cost compact cameras - depending on the model - can go as close as 2 to 3 inches to the subject - try it out!!
