The wonders of nature

We are expecting our first snow of the season
tomorrow and I cannot wait. No matter how many
times I experience the seasons it never ceases to
amaze me. It also reminds me that no matter how
bleak things get there is always spring after the
winter. These pictures are of my previous house
in the spring (top left) and summer (top right) and
my current house backyard in the fall (bottom left
and winter (bottom right)!

In Regina, we greeted winter more than a month ago. The average day time temperatures this week have been around minus 15. We are "plugging in" our cars - already.

Sujata, I used to do that when I was living in Fargo, North Dakota. Winters started in October. I still remember the day when Fargo got 22 inches of snow and I had to dig my car out of all that snow all by my lonely self. Painful, just to think about it now, not sure how I did it then!

This year surprisingly there was no Snow during the entire month of NOV'09 - The last time Nov was snowless was 147 years before!

Seetha, your house is very beautiful!

No SEASON in this part of the world though. Every time I want to SEE my SONS I get there!!!

Seetha, is that a house or a mansion? Like entertaining guests? ;-)

Boulder, am I rt?

Anywho, Hilu is my nickname. When I was 4 or 5, I used to think everyone has an "official" nickname.

Ya Seetha, thatz a mansion...! Even bollywood homes are no match to this.
Love the fall view... Even the winter one has its own charm.

Mansion, haha, but it was big. Fortunately, I don't live there anymore. It took me three hours just to mow that lawn you see and I will leave it to your imagination as to how long it took to remove snow! I now live in a townhouse half that size and enjoy it way more!
@Faiyaz: When you get there you can SEA the SONS also.
@Hilu: No it is in NJ. I did host my nephew's engagement party in that house in 2005 with around 100 guests.
@Vimal: The fall and winter views are of my current house.

Lovely pics, Seetha! BTW, are you in NJ, or elsewhere? I am a wee bit confused because of late many NRI's have joined this blog.

Also, will someone explain what 'plugging in our cars' means?

Seetha said...

Venu, I am in NJ right now.
Here goes the explanation for 'plugging in our cars'. It actually means precisely what it says. In the northern climes like in Fargo (where I used to live)and Winnipeg (where Sujata lives) it gets so cold that cars will not start in the morning. This is because the engine oil freezes from the cars just sitting out in the cold all night long. So all cars that are sold in these areas come with an engine block heater. Parking lots are equipped with power outlets and one has to 'plug in their car' so that the whole engine block will stay warm and keep the engine oil from freezing and the car will start in the morning.

Golly, I could never imagine how cold weather could wreak so much havoc to an engine----thx for the clarification, Seetha.
NJ is full of desis, as far as I know. I have a few friends there too.
