Neato, Stanley Saar! In spite of the movie sticking to a plot with cliches, it was entertaining.
The "white people" across the street where I lived in BAM, the Nabhis i.e. jiggled my memory about something. There were 2 "girls", one named Janki (iirc), senior to me by 4-5 years, at least, not necessarily SVCians, who I used to run into (they may even have come to our house). The last I recall, Janki left for the USA (I'm talking late 60s folks).
Anybody know who I'm talking about? They could be of the Nabhi clan, but then again they might have been Tamilians. I do not recollect the relationship between the 2 girls, always saw them together (at least that's what my mental imagery sez).
Seetha, other SVCians, detective Vimal, any clues?
Sir Stanley, this is yet another great observation coming from you!
As the saying goes, 'when the Don speaketh, the whole blog listeneth'!!
Omkar, I suppose you are referring to Janaki of the Pothapragada family who lived beside our house--the house between ours and Seetha's. She and her sister, Shanta are those good-looking, fair lasses you are referring to, I suppose.
Incidentally, Janaki is my wife's aunt and lives in Leeds, UK since the 60s. Even though she is 60+, she still looks charming!
BTW, where in the US are you? I am in DC for another 2 months.
So the pandoras box opens up once again!!!
Non-pareil perceptiveness, astounding acuity, pinpointed perspicacity , infallible insight, dazzling discernment which makes rapturous reading.
Thanks guys --Gopo heley bhi kotha ti sotho .......
Naresh --I am a bit puzzled about your effusive comment --is it aimed at James Cameron or at Arun's observation on Pandora ?
Bade Bhaiyya
Its eulogising the effort as seen thru Stanley David's 'monocle !
Still haven't seen it - The one running in the IMAX is sold out - Desperately waiting to see though - Henry too hasn't. Plan to see it together.
Will be only able to comment after watching.
By the way, what's all this Pandora's Box - Bound to open a can of worms!
Pandora's box is actually a freudian window thru which u can peep into the great mind of the seniormost knighted citizen of SVC who used to platonically meet a denizen of Stella Maris.
Stan Saar.....
Bhaat Obhzerbhation!!!!! You were watching this film with 4 D glasses kya? I managed to finally see it in Chennai. Truly amazing!!! Actually it's not a film. It's an experience!!! Some interesting morals for Man too ...:-}
That is the beauty of Cameron's Avataar --brings out all the hidden Freudian and other issues out in the open.....
Vimal has not commented yet whether the names were indeed inspired by APOSCARDFROMVIMAL ??
By the way, in the myth of Pandora's box, do you know what remained finally, after all else was let loose....
Hope.
Arun
U made me recall Khushwant Singh the great Sardar's line " its more in the mind than in the groin".
oops hope I am not lewd !
Fantastic movie and fantastic writeup Stanley. Pity it is not in 3D. Our real selves have to ruminate for a decade probably to see APOSCARDFROMVIMAL in 3D
Stella Maris? Sounds familiar Arun.
Darn, I missed seeing it in the Fox IMAX last Sunday. Gotta plan for this weekend.
Guys, check out Vimal's submission of how Rajesh Khanna breaks his silence, accuses James Cameron of his latest blockbuster Avatar being a copy of Kaka’s 1983 Bollywood masterpiece Avtaar.
Vimal --can you not post a link ? --it is hilarious !!
Yes Stanley---that was another masterpiece from Vims.
That was an interesting observation, Stanley. Never thought you would link the two worlds (yes, the bonhomie of SVCians is out of this world, like the people in Pandora). Saw Avatar with Faiyaz in the only IMAX cinema here. The special effects were spectacular though I am a bit hazy on the story. All I can think is of Bertrand Russell's quote: Man is basically a vicious animal. Talking of the movie, as the theatre was far from home, Faiyaz and I had to take the metro(which was real cool), what with the soundless movement and the fact that it was driverless!
Faiyaz even donned some wigs (which were on display outside the IMAX, at a stand showing a demo of an LCD TV) which seemed to be straight from the Harry Potter series. He made me wear one too!

Aha, that was the absent-minded professor a.k.a. Henry.
Who else would post a comment and post it again after a minute? :)
Henry is back with a double bang! But Vimal's disappeared temporarily(read his mail today)so Stanleys question on inspiration may be answered soon
