Hello SVCians,
I am the latest entrant to this exalted world. I studied for a year in 1969 at SVC, Bam. Fellow benchers - Fayaz, Tasneem, Seetha, Malathi, Ashish, Aditya (Babloo) Padhi. I was the shortest, made to stand in the front of the assembly line!! Miss Shamim was mentor, friend, neighbour (yes, for a few months) and a wonderful teacher. Wish I could have a few more years of her guidance, but had to move back to Stewarts, Cuttack from whence I had come. That's how I know Enarkay.
This here is my family - Sudeb, in 3rd yr Engg at Chennai, Sareena, Sushmita (teacher in Amity Int'l School, Delhi, and self (in 'Nether Land' as always). This was in Gulmarg btw, Dec 2009. I think I have bored you folks enuf. More in my next.
p.s. this is my first post. Am a total newbie, regarded in derision by my kids of the 'Facebook generation'.
p.p.s Thanks a million, Tasneem and Vimal for this opening

Welcome aboard. I too migrated from SVC to Stewart and was probably a year junior to you. It's great to see your family pix. Your family has added the proverbial chaar chaand to Kashmir. Hope you will be regular and not just a one blog wonder.

Welcome Debu! Nice to see your lovely family. Folks Debnath was my classmate in Stewarts School too and we met recently at Kolkata after ages. Thats when I came to know the SVC connection. He hasn't changed much . Thanks to Tas and Vimal for roping him in

At last Debnath dear is in our midst! Congrats and thanks for pasting this lovely pic of you and your family. You've done extremely good in your first blog post..keep blogging always. You haven't told us that you are in the Indian Navy, and the only one amongst us who is in the Armed Forces. I remember the crazy time we had 17 years back at the Mumbai Navy Ball, danced till till dawn, and how you dropped Jason and his suitcase off at the Station at 5 in the morning straight from the Ball in your mobike! Those were fun times.

Welcome to the blog, Debnath. What a great looking family! This blog is too awesome. How wonderful to see old classmates after ages!. I was also among the shortest wherever I went. I am still looking for step stools all the time or asking my kids to help with things up high, :)).

Hello folks
I was overwhelmed by the great welcome and the stupendous compliments. Thanks a ton. You know, of late I was feeling generally out of sorts, mulling deep existential issues, when suddenly I was launched into this blogosphere, which melted the years away, and got me teleported back in time.
Yep Faiyaz, kudos to your memory. My father was posted in the Fisheries dept, and we stayed in Bijipur / Hillpatna. I remember your parents, Nargis, your cousin Sohail, the photo in the drawing room of your brother standing in the snow in Russia, the White house and the large garden. My memory is not too bad, eh?
Seetha, you had a brilliant smile, and twinkling blue/grey eyes. [Folks, pl excuse, I am not going to skimp on the compliments, especially for the girls]. Malathi was the tall Amazon. I was the shorty, remember, so she looked high up from where I was standing. How come she is not in the blog?
There was a Bong girl too, Sanchita.
Tas of course, I have been meeting on and off. Once, in Connaught Place, I was with my wife in a shop called ‘Giggles’. And who do you think calls out my name? I turn very very slowly, (obviously, wife ahead) and I see Tasneem !!!! And she takes us home to lunch.
Arun, I probably will remember your image of a younger you. And maybe you will remember the small chap, standing ahead of the girls too sometimes (as punishment for some misdemeanor) in the assembly line at Stewarts.
Ciao, guys.

Deb, a very warm welcome...yes, you have a fantastic memory of schooldays gone by--and, one cannot grudge you the vivid memories of our elegant girls--now more elegant-than-ever ladies -- way back at SVC.

And after all those years at sea, imagine you having existential thoughts --that is for us landlubbers, trapped in matchbox flats in crowded cities....

Welcome Sir!

Nice family pic.

If Arun is a year junior then that would make my batchmates & I, 2. So probably we would not have been in your radar.

Now, if you had stayed a few more years, true to the SVC tradition, our batch also had quite a few stunners of the fairer sex ;-)

Digression - Faiyaz, were u 2 or 3 years senior to us? (ref. Nigar's batch). Cos, I do remember we (Bhabani, Vimal, I, Narayan, Harjinder ...)used to play soccer with Sapan, Priyal, Hemant et al (2 years our senior) and they used to beat us although we put up a good fight. But can't recollect you.

Debnath was quite close to me - Now don't get ideas - Not the Dostana type!

He used to come in a chauffeur driven bicycle - His features and his memory was and continues to be sharp!

Be consistent - Don't you disappear!

Hey Debnath, bhelcome to this blog!

I vaguely recall you, as I was in Arun's class, though in a different section. So now there are 4 of us here with SVC-Stewart combination.

Since your dad was in Fisheries, do you know my classmate, Uday Bhaskar?

Off topic--BTW Hilu, it was nice talking to you the other day.

Hi folks
Arun, it was great talking to you. I didn't expect such a swift response.
Venu, I remember you clearly. Been to your house too, at Cuttack. Stanley, I recognise from the photographs by morphing back in time. Omkar, thanks for the welcome. You are all so amazingly talented. Faiyaz conjures up a pun at the drop of a hat; I am a little wary too, he can pull legs with such ease.
Bye, good night.

Hi Debnath....

As requested by your Highness I have scrolled down to see the 'invisible' you. But what I fail to understand is this...You write that Faiyaz can pull legs with such ease and yet you are a little wary of this exercise. Kyon? Wouldn't it be nice to grow tall so that you can stand wat back in the assembly line...or is it a little too late for that...hehehehe.
Anyway, WELCOME!

Welcome Debnath... Great to have you on the Blog.

Nargis, my comment regarding pulling of legs was in a lighter vein. Would I mind if Fai cracked a joke?
