Does art imitate life or life art? Who knows!! But Nargis, you have put it so beautifully. Bahut khusnaseeb hai woh jiske paas maa hai...AND the landlord can go hang himself.
Observation # 2 : Life is all 'maya' - illusion in capital letters. Nothing is permanent. Not money, buildings, relationships, concrete, etc etc. We should know, having to change home and hearth every few years. This impermanence appears all the more stark, now that the first half century of life has gone by...so swiftly that pleasures of our youth are just vague misty memories. Did they occur at all?
Observation # 3: Have just come back after watching the National Film Awards at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Priyanka Chopra got mobbed, by media, by wild kids with autograph booklets in hand, egged on by wilder Delhi moms. I got elbowed out by these HULK moms. They could have just requested me... Priyanka was lucky to get out without injury, with Madhur Bhandarkar's protective arms forming a shield. (That is ironic, though!) Somebody was murmuring in the background "What nonsense, she is just a mortal". How true. She is an army kid from Army Public School, Delhi.
Observation #4: Saw Waheeda Rehman on screen, when they projected the films shot by Mr. VK Murthy, the Dada Saheb Phalke award winner. Faiyaz, reminded me of the photo you uploaded of your aunty. This Mr. Murthy has shot some fantastic movies, all of which I absolutely adore. Check him on google.

First of all....what is it with SVC pass outs? They all seem to be such WOW writers ;-}I loved ALL your observations.
As for that Landlord..... I'm still smiling. But how can you be so very cruel? I have a milder expression. 'He can go fly a kite'...and err...maybe fall off the roof...hahahaha!
As for observation 2: Life indeed is all Maya. But Maya is no illusion. As though her statues were not permanent enough, now we have to witness a vulgar display of her jeet in a 'haar'. I don't know about the birds but the bees sure objected...:-}
As for Observation 3 : No comments. For who knows what ACTUALLY happened...secretly I feel some poor kids and some poor moms got elbowed out by a not so incredible HULK from SVC....:-}

Good observations. My take:
1. Fully agree that it is all maya. When I went thru Bam after almost 40 years I too felt that it was some other Arun that had roamed around in this city. Felt connected. Felt disillusioned too.
2. Priyanka's tryst with her maya had even more humbler beginings in Jamshedpur and Bareily. But she deserves all the adulation even if it is over the top.
3. Still can't get over waheeda as shot by guru dutt in the song, "choudveen ka chand ho..."
