When she ...

When she smiled or did not > our teacher

July 10, 2010 · for Ms Shameem Banu whom I'm waiting to meet

there was that fragrance with her / like a quiet garden unassuming trees rich with Things we were yet to see.
We were in rows and desks and fields ;
there was laughter and sometimes fears secrets and sometimes pain ; ” you ‘re growing..” she once said.

I had not guessed how much she knew that we did not:  how many miles there were to go,
how many routes to re trace, how many erasers we would need and how much ink, how much Space;
how many years it would take to meet again, and me with yet another poem

Miss Shameem was an institution with the institution of SVC.

"I had not guessed how much she knew that we did not..." truly a line to cherish and remember

Hi Rayla...Nice poem..Do you talk at home in poetry? I should brush up my english before meeting you to understand your conversation. Living in Mumbai for so long now I talk and write in Hinglish. Please convey my regards to our dear Shamim miss.

U in Mumbai ? we were there 17 yrs almost, it made me the footpathi person I m proud to be today..

about 'talking at home " > I speak in shouts and half sentences, which is the best kind of poetry I think.

Hi Rayla, it was awesome talking to you on the phone, and I must say you have the kindest voice I have ever heard. I am sooooo disappointed we were not able to make the meet happen, sniff sniff!!!. Darn, the Bangalore traffic!!!! It was seven by the time I arrived in my friends place. Hopefully we can make it the next time.
