1966: Our batch was in Pre-Elementary in that corner (closest to Khallikote College) classroom to the right, after entering the school premises, on the groundfloor.
Bhabani, Lalaji (Babuji & Balaji completed the trio), and myself were "punished" to stay in class during the games period. Ater running around the empty aisles, and writing on the blackboard awhile, Lalaji mentioned that he had to go (number 1, thankfully). Predicament for 3 5-year olds. I suggested that if Lalaji darts out to the bathroom, there was enuff time to get back w/o Miss being any wiser. Bhabani, suggested that he "go" in the basket (remember, every class used to have one of these?), point being that it would serve Miss right, for bringing this upon the class. Turned into an argument between myself and Bhabani, with Lalaji pleading that it was not really that urgent. My first introduction and grudging admiration of Bhabani's mischievous mindset ;-)
Oh BTW, Reena just called me up, like an hour ago, saying that its only been 35 years and she felt like saying hello. Kid u, I not. Sheer coincidence, at first I thought it had to be related to this blogging site. If/when she joins the blog, she'll vouch that I did not make this up!

Oh yes! Reena did call me up this morning!!!!! Actually when I read Omkar's post, i thought he was just kidding. It was great talking to her... the gap of 30-35 years did not exist. It was as if we had been in touch all these years. Must appreciate the efforts she put in to locate one of us. Seriously, I'm not kidding too...
vimal please let me know her email id or number so i can contact her . we were good friends and competitors for the first rank
Ah! Now the moot point is Sarita closer or Reena to Alpana. Lets toss a coin !
Dal Badli ! Somewhere I read Sarita is the chum , now being replaced by the Indian diaspora !
Alpana: Patience! Samay se pehle kisi ko kuch nahi milta. Aap ka vakt aayega to aap ko apne aap sab miljayega! Intezaar kijiye… Aap abhi Q main hain...
naresh, one person can have many friends 4 the record, u have not read between the lines, sarita was a bum- chum something like a siamese twin, my alter ego, sounding board and one i could almost call a soul mate. reena was a friend, COMPETITOR and there was atime when i felt that i could never surpass her! my refrain of " i cant beat reena ( at studies) used 2 drive my mom up the wall. but finally at one point i did pip her 2 the winning post and then the taste of success was so good, i never let it go. also ishe immi 2 the states and i lost a good motivating factor. also if i say that i was very much more frienly with vimal and his family, inc bro sunjay, dose it make u less of my friend?
