Arre yaar, 1984 was my last real diwali :-(

And the "jua khela" (gambling) 15 days later on KP (Kumar Purnima) night, with parental approval!!!!!

Only in BAM, baby!

Hey Hilu....

Your 'jua khela' reminded me of something I'd written sometime back. Maybe I'll post it tomorrow.
Happy Diwali folks!

Will miss the mithais, the lights, the crackers and the festivities of back home. That's the bitter sweet (neem-shahad) truth of life.
Have fun all of you n remember poor me. I guess I'll make some gulab jamun n chenna podh pitha by myself!

HAPPY DIWALI TO ALL---though the crackers far exceed the 60 decibels permissible limit and become 100 times more potent leaving us cribbing, irritated,cursing and partially deaf,yet none of us I dare say wouldlike a ban on it---the lights bcome almost symbolc--of the good tidings ahead---go ahead and Njoy!!!!

Hey Sarita....

Personally I'm not for the noise pollution. Especially since my dog and my cat are literally shivering those few days. For me the phuljharis, diyas, colourful matchboxes make more sense than the loud crackers. And how I also miss those black 'saanps' that used to literally grow from the ground the moment the tablet was lit. That was my personal favourite :-}
And hey Tas...you know how to make Chennapodo? TEACH ME NA!

I learnt it from an Oriya friend in Calgary. Its very easy to make provided you get ricotta cheese. I have never tried with regular paneer that we get in India.Ricotta is softer and more maleable.
I'll post the recipe shortly!
