I know, this blog is about what common ties we SVCians (of a particular time period?) share. So apologies in advance.
There was a post wherein the discussion had mentioned my dad's poems. So here goes, just one -
I had a hard copy of this particular one. My sister had compiled some of his poems, and stored them in soft copy.

Hilu, Apologies for what?
You must be crazy.
Nargis always had high regards for your Daddy (Rath Uncle) and always admired his style.
Good one! And do keep posting.
We should be apologising instead for posting CAR and BeyCAR stuff!
Hilu,
Your apologies are not accepted because they are just not warranted. What time and space can we claim to share with you if we cannot appreciate your dad's poetic sensibilities?
The poem itself is brilliant. The very thought that you can be in love with your thoughts is indeed a thought provoking subject and transports us to a totally different world altogether.
The lines i loved most:
When thought takes wings from out of these worlds,
Can I then rest on earthly words?
May many more such gems be posted at regular intervals.
Hi Omkar,
Beautiful poem! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Lovely poem. Omkar, I did not know that we had such a good poet in the vicinity of our house.
Do post some more!
Hilu
That was really subtle and sublime
A very sweet poem. You must be really proud to have had such a talented Dad. I salute him.
You must get all his pieces compiled together and published for posterity.
Thx. folks. Maybe 1 more, sometime. I'll follow Vimal's suggestion and post a link someday.
What I liked most about this poem - the abrupt introduction of "she".
What I would critique (ha, me!) - "mystic glances", once too many?
Thanx for sharing, Omkar. This is what our Blog is all about... Please do post some more. You must collate all of them and bring out another book. Read my comment on this elsewhere.
Apologies Hilu? You must be joking. Like Faiyaz says I've grown up wondering why can't I write like this? For me poetry then was something where two words could rhyme. Period! Such stuff was beyond my gray cells. So it would indeed be an honour to walk through this great poet's gallery. I guess this is one way to keep our fathers alive. Do keep posting them on and off.
And btw...this was awesome! And like every poem it needs to be read again...and again....and then again. So thank you :-}
Hi Omkar, its such a joy to read poems with such lucid thoughts--- mind blowing !!!! Any body sensitve would yearn to pen his thoughts the way uncle has done his, wonderful!!! Wherez the poet in you??? Btw your bhauja[R.P.R's] wife had called---felt good talking to her--she is lonely ...,I'm going to look her up one of these days.Bye
Funny, ain't it, Sarita? I do not have any semblance of the "poet" gene, as it also happens that my mom rcv'd. the Kabiyatri award for her poems in Oriya.
Nargis, rightly points out, that rhyming is but a part of it.
If you do look up my Bhauja, at the risk of offending you, I shall consider it a favor ;-)
Omkar, some relationships go far beyond mere formalities-- i'd tke anything in the right spirit considering it a privilege --I'll see her and report back. ciao
