This happened to us, or at least to me ! Kunmun and Nigar will endorse my experiences though.. we had this incredibly volatile Dr Sarbeswar Das , our English Professor during Year 1980-81 , who was paranoid upon enforcing discipline.
To the extent he climbed the ' Arch ' shown by you to pull out flags hoisted by SFI / CPI and the host of political pathogens you have.
Later he became the Principal of the college , where this standing outside ' Syndrome ' was promulugated much to the chagrin of we English alumni who were dear to his heart !
Well.....thank god it never happened to me cos I actually never was an 'out'standing student anyway ;-}
But yes, once or twice I've been an 'understanding' student inside the SVC premises! I had forgotten to do my homework. Donno if it was Ms.Mary or Ms.Shameem but one of them had made me 'stand under' a tree with my homework book pinned onto my back :-{
