Hey folks! I remember an Amreekan poet friend (he used to teach poetry in college) once said that poems also have a shape. Like a tree poem or a face poem.....so he challenged me to write a diamond poem. And when I asked him how on earth I was supposed to do that he said it was easy- it could be any nonsense but it had to be shaped like a diamond. Try doing it- any shape, any nonsense. It will be fun! Anyway Vim, if diamonds are forever, then these precious words will be there in your postcard forever and a day!
The Diamond Poem
?
WhaT
On earth iS
A Diamond verse?
I have never truly beeN
A willful party to its sheeN
Is it something to do with ‘Carrots’ ?
Do the words sparkle, shimmer or glisten?
Will it be a girl’s best friend forever?
Does it come with an edge?
Are there any ‘Cuts’?
I obviously musT
Be a nuT
But aM
I?

great nargis. now i know what to present to my wife when she asks for diamonds!
An Ad appeared sometime back that said - Buy her a Diamond before someone else does!
That reminds me...Soon after we got married, Dina told me - Mujhe Sona Bohath Pasand Hain!
Guess what? The very next day I presented her with a Pillow!!
Arun: OMG, now look what an idea I've given to you not so gentle men! Anyway, even if you must, make it a point that it comes right out of your own mind mine. And if possible try to polish it with love :-}
Faiyaz: Very funny! The next time Dina says 'Mujhe Heera pasand hai' just let me know. I'll send across my Bungalow Peon. You know his name is Heera right ;-}
I remember having seen a movie titled - What Men want?
What Women want -
Shakira ho Ya Meera - Heera!
Thanx Nargis! Your poem truly has all the 4C's associated with a diamond - Clarity, Colour, Cut and Weight!
I have read several poems by Nargis and would rate this one as 'C'.
The 5th 'C'- Crap!
