Anger & Tears

Folks, this is about the recent incidents in Mumbai - the barbaric manner in which terrorists’ targeted innocent people. This is no more a city or a country-centric issue. This is a global issue that needs to be tackled with a strong hand.
I fail to understand how some one can be so least bothered about his or her life, in the first place. How can someone take innocent lives in such barbaric manner? What does one gain? What are the objectives? What does one try to prove by creating such mayhem? Who is funding such activities and how are they in turn being funded? Can one not understand what is right and what is wrong? How can one motivate some one to kill innocent people?
Where is the world heading and how does one fight such evil? Is there a solution?? Probably not 100% but I am sure each one of us can make things difficult for terrorists by being more vigilant. Keep an eye open for any suspicious behavior or any unclaimed material and bring it to the notice of people who matter. There are more numbers of good-hearted people on earth than terrorists. We surely outnumber them - this means that if each one of us is a little more cautious, we can bring down the incidents and make this place much safer for our kids and the future generation.
I am sure each one of us is very proud of our Army and the police force. They fought for us to bring this whole ghastly affair to an end. Heart felt thanx also to all hotel staff involved, the brave firemen and countless others who also contributed equally to save lives. One feels very sad and sorry for all the innocent lives lost and prays for their soul to rest in peace.
For those of us who were glued to the TV, must have noticed that the channels did not run advertisements at all during the entire period. That was very commendable. I admire the brave reporters and photographers who risked their lives to show us how barbaric terrorism can be.
Along side please find two photographs that I had taken quite some time back. I admire both the properties – The Taj and the The Oberoi. From an amateur photographer’s perspective: The former (the old building) for the royal grandeur and the latter for the sophisticated clean lines. Both the properties showed the world that in the area of hospitality India is second to none. I hope it reopens soon.
It would be appropriate to quote over here from a mail that my friend had forwarded. The line read: “Forgiving a Terrorist is left to God. But fixing their appointment with God is our Responsibility" - INDIAN ARMY

Vimal,,,u have echoed the sentiments of we indians,,,,and as u rightly put it,,,its not just an indian issue,,,but a global war,,,,also as for the terrorists ,,,,as Sashi Tharoor put in in todays Times,,,,,,,its more effective to bleed India to death than to attempt defeat in conventional war.
but all said and done...i wud blame the entire Indian attitude of Chalta Hai........had we had the guts .......way back when Kandahar took place.....for the lives of one plane load of indians,,,,WE HAVE PAID A FAR HEAVIER PRICE IN TERMS OF LIVES,,,WITH MANY MORE THE NO........as time and again the terrorist has realised that this silly country will NOT RETALIATE...
after a show of candle lit rallies and endless talk shows,,,,not to mention the blame game,,,,we r gonna go back to our daily existence,,,,clinging on to the theory of karma,,,,,,,the we get what we deserve attitude.
the attacks r gonna continue,,,we r only fooling ourselves in thinking that this is it,,,,,,all i can feel that its gonna be a matter of time,,,,when the comman man is pushed against the wall,,,he is gonna retaliate........
Vimal,,,,one cannot go into the mind of the terrorist,,,,in the name of religion,,,all barbaric acts r commited,,,,if u follow the news ,,,our pakistani brethen have witnessed arnd 1200 deaths in terrorists attacks since july 2007.....
Oberoi was where i spent some beautiful moments of my youth,,,,,i was a front office cashier at THE OBEROI,,,,,and can only identify the fear,,,,panic,,,disbelief,,,,the trapped feeling,,,,,,its an assault on our freedom of movement.
but we shall get back,,,,and yes we all have to help go towards safer future,,,we owe it to the coming generations.

Fighting terrorism , is no easy task as the participants are highly motivated, no desire to see the next dawn, mostly drawn from impoverished families with a cause to better the lives of their dear ones.

Instead of looking always to the police -- community circles, social bands, a will to save others and self would bring in the adrenalin to counter terrorism.
