.

I have posted a google map of where I lived (see the red dot), in answer to Faiyaz's question. It was a long and narrow house and the backyard went all the way to the hospital. I am not sure if that house still stands as it used to be. We called it the train house. And that is a picture of my siblings, myself and our parents in the front yard of that house.

The next picture is yours truly as I look now and the next is of my boys, Vasanth and Sreyas

Cool pics did you say Tas? Wait till Naresh unleashes his vocabulary!!!

You look absolutely great Seetha. A slightly heavier jewellery and I would have politely enquired about your palaces in Rajasthan!!

Your kids look like budding tennis players to me.

Absolutely great and welcome to the blogland once again.

Hi Seetha,
Welcome to the blog and thanks for those nice pics.
From the location on Google Maps, I think you were staying right next to Dr V.Prakasha Rao's clinic---am I right?

I remember the pan shops near Seeta's house where we spent a good amount of our pocket money on the way back from school. As ours was a joint family visits to Dr Prakash Rao's clinic were frequent. Some of my cousins and my aunt were also at SVC.Sister Rosalie used to say " You Nabhis all look alike"
Will try to post a pic of self soon Tas

Thanks for the comments peeps!

Arun, sorry no palaces in Rajasthan for me!!!. That picture was taken at my nephew's wedding. If you thought that was too much jewelry, you should have seen all the other ladies that attended, :)))

Yes, my older son Vasanth, is a tennis player. He would have made it to the pros, but a freak basketball accident put an end to that. He still however plays on USTA league teams.

Venu - Aha, that's it, I was racking my brain when I posted that map and could not remember what that Dr's name was. There was a compound wall that separated the clinic from our house. Every time my brother and his friends played cricket they used to lose the ball over the wall. One time the ball sailed right through an open window and prompted the compounder to unleash some choice words at them.

Enarkay - How can I forget that "killi kottu" right across the street from my house. Its location played a crucial role in the traumatic experience I went through in Berhampur. More on this later!

Hi Seetha.....

Welcome to the postcard! I see you are already well established here :-} Btw...I checked your earlier post and you say Snigdha was your classmate. Hey, she was mine too. She was Dr. Sukumar Das' dotter right? Her mom was so beautiful like Saira Banu...hehehe...Actually even Aruna, Ratna and YBaby were my classmates. I can't figure out how. And wonder of wonders, even I enacted that 'My pretty Maid' wallah poem. I even remember my partner Shilu. SVC sure was funny....:-}

I had to repeat VIth std because I did not pass my Math final exam (BTW, I kicked butt in Math since then, thank you!) and that is how I ended up with two sets of classmates.

Hi Seetha --welcome to the blog --and I can see that you have all the right ingredients for a great blogger --dollops of nostalgia, vivid memories, and an ability to connect to people and places --
so, with due apologies to the Bard who said in As You Like It:

Under the APOSTCARDFROMVIMAL tree,
who would love to blog with me,
Come hither, come thither,
here you shall find no enemy,
but winter and rough weather....

Great to see your picture Seetha!
Believe me If I would have seen you in person I would have recognized you - You haven't changed much - Features are just the same....

Vasanth and Sreyas - Backdrop Madurai?

Thanks for the google map.

Howdy Seetha,

Oh I used to live ever so close to where u did. Right across.

U do look familiar, so musta seen you some.

My mom was an avvid movie fan (dad could stand 1 per month), and I rmbr. a few occaisons, where she would drag Anuradha (yr. cousin?) with her. "Around the World" (no pun intended), ref. Raj Kapoor, was one for sure.

I liked your tude about "kickin' a**" in Math. I am a fan of the Americam Education system, u c, where they don't make life for young students, so hard!

Never knew there was a Bridgewater in NJ and a Mandir too!
Keep visiting Bridgewater in MA.

Really funny, Nargis, I thought Snigdha was a year junior to you and a year senior to me.
Rajashree Chottray was your classmate, I think. Confusing....

"Killi kottu", Seetha? There were three of them---we named them as 'Vokoto Kottu', 'Renduvo kottu' and 'Moodo kottu' (translated as first, second and third shop).

Omkar, I could now figure out your house, after seeing Seeta's map. Till now I was thinking you were staying near Babu Singh's place.BTW, Anuradha is my aunt, unless Seetha has a sis by the same name.

Seetha

The Seeta of 'Treta Yug ' would have blushed or rather envied seeing her 'namesakes ' contender.

Although you are a Yankee , draped in a Yellow, listening to our Yabber and Yackety yak . You 're like the yanquapin.

Pardon my yap ! Vintage photograph is priceless !

Thanks Tasneem, Arun, Venu, Enarkay, Nargis, Stanley, Faiyaz, Vinita, Omkar and Naresh, for the kind comments.

Omkar, I was wondering who Anuradha was, thanks for clearing that up Venu!

Enarkay said...

Omkar I think Debjit Rath is related to you right? BTW did your house have an open space in front? I remember going there many times with my aunt Anuradha
