Hello from V. Seetha!!!

Hello everyone, I am Seetha Viswanathan (was known as V. Seetha at SVC) and with this post I officially become a blogger.  I am really excited and must thank Enarkay for remembering me and introducing me to this blog and of course thanks to Vimal for inviting me.  Ever since Enarkay told me about this blog I have been sitting and reading all the blogs for hours on end. My son had to drag me away from my computer so I could feed him dinner. I noticed several of you celebrated your Silver Wedding Anniversaries, my hearty belated congratulations to you all!!

Like Enarkay said we lived on Church Road until 1968 and then we moved to RCM PG Hostel Warden's Quarters after my father became the Warden there. I went to SVC from baby class to mid VII std.  However I have two different sets of classmates.  My memory is not as great as some of you guys. I was with Snigdha, Bharati Panda and Sharada until VI std and then had to repeat VI std. This was because I failed Maths, by one mark, :((, and Mother Superior would not promote me, :((, :((.  So I ended up with Faiyaz, Tasneem, Aruna etc.  The one feature of the school I distinctly remember is the huge stage. I was a big part of all the Parent's Day plays we had every year. I remember singing Christmas carols during Christmas. I also remember one particular song (I don't remember whether it was just a song we learnt or whether it was part of a play). It went some thing like.....

Where are you going to my little maid?
Where are you going to my little maid?
I am going a milking Sir she said,
I am going a milking Sir she said!!

Of the teachers I remember Miss Shamim Banu, Sister Roslie, Sister Margaret and Mother Superior, how could I forget her, :). I noticed that some of you got a chance to meet Miss Shamim. I was glad to see her in pictures posted in this blog. She has not changed at all. Hopefully I will get to meet her too. She was a phenomenal teacher. I will never forget the fun picnics we had to places like Gopalpur, Chilka Lake etc. Ahhhhh!!! the stroll down memory lane feels so good! I used to look at the picture of all of us sitting on the lighthouse steps and wonder where everyone ended up at. Yes, that very bad picture that Enarkay posted was mine. I will see if I can get it restored and post it again. Tasneem, I remember you the most of all my classmates. As a matter of fact I use various versions of your name (and Miss Shamim's name) as passwords for several of my accounts at work, :)).

My father was a lecturer at Khallikote College but in mid 1970 he got a job as Assistant Professor at REC Trichy, so we moved. I was halfway through VII Std then. I have never gone back to Berhampur again. I have been trying to arrange a trip back to BAM with my sisters and my brother, but so far we have not been able to take time off at the same time. My whole family has such good memories of Berhampur ( I have one very traumatic memory - subject for a blog all by itself).

I went on to finish my bachelor's in Chemistry in Trichy and then worked for an an organization called ICRISAT in Hyderabad until 1984.  I then moved to the US to complete my Master's and PhD and have been here ever since.  I now live in NJ and work as a pharmaceutical Scientist.  I have two boys, Vasanth, (24 yrs. old) who is in law school and Sreyas (15 yrs. old) who is in 9th grade.
Looking forward to more blogging!!
Seetha

Welcome aboard Seetha

NJ is virtually an India in US. Or rather Indianised US ...Its nice to note that your sons are V ( Vasanth )and S (Sreyas ). Obviously a part of VS - V Seetha.

ICRISAT is more famous for the layman for the number of imported cars which whizz around HYB , courtesy their employees.

Recall seeing u at SVC.. hazel eyes and all if that's the pictures sent by VIM thru email.

Anyways, swagatam . su- swagatam.

Welcome to the blog Sita.I too remember that song/rhyme. Only instead of "little maid" it was probably "pretty maid". Was it in the Radiant Reader?

Great to have you on board, Seetha...

I happen to enact.......
"Where are you going to, my pretty maid?"
"I'm going a-milking, sir," she said.
"May I go with you, my pretty maid?"
"You're kindly welcome, sir," she said.
"What is your father, my pretty maid?"
"My father's a farmer, sir," she said.
"What is your fortune, my pretty maid?"
"My face is my fortune, sir," she said.
"Then I can't marry you, my pretty maid."
"Nobody asked you, sir," she said

Thanks guys, its good to be back in touch.

Enarkay, you are right it is 'pretty maid'.

Faiyaz, either you have a phenomenal memory or you googled it just like I did, :)). I remember enacting it too!

Naresh, yes we ICRISATians were known for that although I have to excuse myself from that group since I did not even know how to drive at that time!

BTW, what's all this about some picture of me floating around in cyberspace?

Hey Seetha.
Great to hear from you after sooo long!
You using variations of my name as your password... Gawd! I freaked!!
Like you, I also left SVC in mid Std VII and have never had the chance to visit BAM ever since. Always used to wonder where you were. Thanks Vimal & Enarkay, for helping us touch base after ages :)
What's your husband doing?
So Vasanth is doing law.. . great profession to be in these times.
You look gorgeous in your pics 'floating' in cyberspace! Also saw you in your Trichy school girl- guide pic. Do keep in touch and call me up if possible. Vimal has my email id.

Seetha, A couple of clarifications - Now what's this Pharmaceutical Scientist all about? Please elaborate.
Heard of Pharmacuetical and Scientists - But never together - For all you know it may be different than what we presume.
Wheel is one word and Chair is another - Both words put together 'Wheelchair' carries a different meaning!

Just trying to recollect....
Where were you actually residing in Church Street? Was it the last house with a Huge Iron Gate just opposite Omkar Rath(Hilu's) House?

Welcome on board Seetha.
Sarita blogs once a blue moon.
Dr. Santha has disappeared after distributing free Boney M passes . Ashu !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! has stopped altogether
Bani chips in with a comment once a quarter
Alpana comes and goes like Haley's commet.
Nargis has come back after three months and I have a feeling she is about to migrate to Sulekha
Tasneem has been a bit reticent of late.
Lets hope you will be regular and energise the rest too.

The term Pharmaceutical Scientist is something that is used loosely to denote someone who works on pharmaceuticals. This is done just to differentiate between the different types of scientists.

And yes I did live in the last house on the left hand side. I have posted a google map along with my pictures.

Thanks Arun, I will try my utmost to be regular!
