In one of the comment on my earlier post I had mentioned to Arun to tell our dear Hindi Miss that I am still very poor in Hindi. Poor Arun he blamed my miss on not being a good teacher. I must remind him that no matter what..... Champagne, sera and company's tails cannot be straightened even if you put the tails in a pipe for 40 years. Even then my Hindi miss could definetely improve my hindi to some extent. But.....
Last 35 years I have been living in this great city called Mumbai. I was literally brought up here more than in Berhampur. I just love everything about Mumbai...its people, its pace, its cosmo culture, its friendly nature, its crowd etc etc....and last but not the least the Mumbaiyya hindi.
Ae Arun Bhai...Apun ka hindi toh apun ka miss ne mast kiyela tha...pan apun Mumbai mein itna baras rahe ke apun ka hindi ka waat lag gayele hai...kya bolta tu...Sorry Arun..please dont let our Hindi miss read this post..she is going to kill me.
Jai Hind...Jai Maharashtra

It is still Bombay for me. Lived there for two years in BARC, Trombay (1984-86), and two years in Maskati Court, bang opposite Churchgate Stn (1993-94) before it became Mumbai. Fills me with nostalgia. Pockets were empty those days, but hearts were full.
Oh! the flavour of Mumbaia Hindi!! I was first exposed to it in Amar Akbar Anthony (1977). Boy didn't we love it when Amitabh said, " Aisa toe aadmi doe ich time bhagta hai, Olyeempik ka race ho ya phir police ka case ho. tum par kya lagil hai bhai?
Every city has its own culture. I remember the chicken kababs and tangadi kababs of roadside Delhi still with nostalgia. The parathas and jalebis of Paratha wali gali off chandini chowk used to be the best in the world.
Bangalore is neater, cleaner and has the best of pubs. Kolkota's jhaal muri, singhda and chai in kullahads with the smell of good earth wafting thru is still fresh in memory.
It takes time to accept Mumbai but once you are in for a year of so the city grows on you. Wada Pav, Leo Pold and the shopping malls are simply awesome.
Har sahar aap se kuch na kuch zaroor kahata hey aur yadeen saath reh jaati hain janam bhar key liye.
jai SVC, Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra and Jai Gujrat.
Arre,,waah bhai waah, kya likhela hai aap log...for someone who was born and raised in Mumbai, this brings back a lot of memories....
There is a certain 'baat' about Bombay which is indescribable but it flows through its people and envelopes all who come there. I was there from 89 to 90 and all of us still love the place. The best thing about its people is that they take all troubles in their stride and celebrate life like there is no tomorrow! Hats off to Mumbai!!
Enarkay there is also a bat in Mumbai. It scores tons and tons. Then should we call it "ton-dulkar"?
Deb: What were you doing in BARC? Jhansi too is Anushaktinagarwali...!!
Blog mein cut to cut likhne ka... apun ka time khoti nahi karne ka... kya?
Vaise Jhansi ka post jhakas tha... fultu time pass... mein khalipili maskaree karrahelatha, dhakkan...!!
Meri jaan, meri jaan
Pyaar kisi se,
Ho hi gaya hai
Hum kya karen?
Hum kya karen haye
Koi kya kare
Dil jo diya hai
Hum kya karen?
Why Why Why Why Why?
This is one of my favourite numbers from an old movie called Yehudi!
Debnath....I also lived in Anushaktinagar between 1984-86 in a building called Ellora. Vimal should have started the post then so that we could meet...but its not late at all. Abhi bhi sab log mil sakte hai...abhi toh aap ka pockets bhi full hai...haha
Arun, Nivedita, NRK...I agree...every city has got its flavour and it takes some time to adapt.
Vimal...So U back...Where were you all these days. You introduce people and disappear. Nahi...nahi...nahi.. chalega.
Faiyaz bhai...nice song
Hi Lakshmi......
I had written an article when I was posted in Mumbai about Munmbai and it was published in the Mumbai Mirror. Let me search for it...if I find it I'll put it up here.
Btw...Loved your jhakaas hindi. I'm sure Arun's mom must be feeling so proud of her student...;-}
And hey, here's the good news....donno about others but champagne's tail can be straightened ...hehehehe.
