Our Higgs who art in earth,
hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on heaven as it is done in earth.

The existence of the particle is postulated as a means of resolving inconsistencies in current theoretical physics, and attempts are being made to confirm the existence of the particle by experimentation, using the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Other theories exist that do not anticipate the Higgs boson, described elsewhere as the Higgsless model.

The Higgs boson is the only Standard Model particle that has not been observed and is thought to be the mediator of mass. Experimental detection of the Higgs boson would help explain the origin of mass in the universe. The Higgs boson would explain the difference between the massless photon, which mediates electromagnetism, and the massive W and Z bosons, which mediate the weak force. If the Higgs boson exists, it is an integral and pervasive component of the material world.

Before the media latched on to the phrase "God particle" and made it popular, one of the scientists involved in the search of this particle actually called it the "Goddam particle."

Oh my Gosh ! all this seems like Latin and Greek to me !

I am glad its not French and Greek 'cause it would make us FREEKS!!

From Arun's tweet to a lesson in physics! OK, Fai, you have now succeeded in totally confusing me, :)

Faiyaz said...

Why on earth will someone confuse a person who is already confused?
Just Kidding....

C0nfucius says a picture is worth a thousand words.A pix of the Higgs boson will set the two theories on a collision course!
(not in the Hadron Collidor though)

Arun, Physics and i were never the best of friends during our SVC days... so why bother me now :-)

No Chemistry between Vimal and Physics!

If it does not CLICK then its not for Vimal.
