RENDEZVOUS AT NAVY LAND

Trrrrrrrrng ! Preferred to keep my mob's tone the vintage Indian Telephone Industries ' hoob-a -hoo. It was Deb on the line !
Deb: Naresh can u come down for a sip at the Eastern Naval Command !
Me: O ya ! sure we mortals would certainly ! To know what exists beyond !
Called up Sushil, who readily agreed to the proposition.
We were off in my ' Khatara' Alto jumping cesspools, road-dividers, meandering thru the serpentine cantonment roads , wary not to disturb the sentries at each imposing entrance.
You have the Krishna gate, the kakatiya gate , the entrance to the Naval dockyard and then ENC.
Huge British Archetypes - the entrance- bathing in halogens. We were standing at the entrance with car parked in no-man's land and knees knocking lest the guards point their AKs' thinking we were a couple of Jihadists reconnoitring at the entrance.
To our relief DEB came waving out and flashed his card to the guards, a crisp salute , and we were inside the bastion !
It was a different world altogether untainted by the pel mel and 'produshan' of the modern world. After coasting thru the backwater docks, squash courts, open lawns for officers we finally settled into for the evening SIP at their officers haunt AND LOST INTO NOSTALGIA !
JAI HIND !

Boy o boy---Vizag looks more tempting with Debnath posted there!

Cheers to you guys!

A drive to Dolpin's Nose and to the Yarada Beach beyond was one of the most exhilerating experiences I had during my long stint in Vizag.

Vizag looks to be a great place. Maybe we can shift our great re-union from Gopalpur to Vizag.

Debnath - How many more years in Vizag?
Next visit to India will include Vizag in my itinerary!
By the way I am still confused with
Vizag/Waltair/Visakhapatnam like I am with Housie/Tambolla/Lotto!!

Venu: Nostalgia again !!!

Arun: A resounding suggestion ! The reunion can be planned on 'Kailashgiri' where u can touch the ether and also ' Bay of Bengal'.

FAI: Vizag and Walteru aka Waltair are the ' Phirangi' nomenclature.

Visakhapatnam is the original. Visakh was the son of God 'Shiva' . Hence u have the ' Kailashgiri with Shiva and Parvati's colossal statues atop it.

The film shootings take atop this hill and has even complements of a Cable car ride, chug- chug chuggy train, a lover's paradise [ smooching is prohibited, the local police are very stringent ], a floral clock, Titanic point, and many more.

...shifting our reunion venue from Gopalpur to Vizag...!! Sounds like a fantastic idea. Only hope it happens in this janam...LOL
But seriously if you guys plan then I am game. Shanker keeps visiting Vizag very often. It falls in his jurisdiction.

I too keep visiting Visakhapatnam for both official and personal reasons. It would be great if the reunion is held there. Debnath, Naresh, Sushil, Narayan, Indrani and others would surely help to make it a reunion to remember!

Fai, i shall be in Vizag at least till Aug 11. Looking forward to your visit.
Nargis, u could accompany Shankar Saab on those companion free tickets, what say? Though I don't know whether they still give those freebies.
Arun, maybe we can conduct some water experiments?
but for the next fortnight, I am off to Cuttack, Calcutta and the Sunderbans. Bye..

The reunion is probably heading towards Mumbai: Gopalpur >> Vizag >> Hyderabad >> Pune / Sangli >> Mumbai..!
