Like the avreage Indian whose views of Indian culture is shaped by Hindi movies, is Karva Chauth the fest wherein Salman guy gets to see Ash gal through sieve --a la dil de chuke sanam --or, is it about lunar and luna effects on mankind ....
Karva is another word for diya and chauth means 'fourth' in Hindi- a reference to the fact that the festival falls on the fourth day of the dark-fortnight, or krishna paksh, of the month of Kartik
Arun...karva chauth every month may be a bit expensive..hehehe. The way the ladies get decked up with lovely mehendi, ornaments, beautiful sarees. They look like nayi neveli dulhans.

Out of curiosity, Why every month though?
The woman folk fast and break after having a glimpse of their better half, Is this Karuva Chauth?
Yes.... and the best part is they also touch their husband's feet!!! Isn't one year a long time for this to recur?

Point to ponder....but I think it is because the better halves keep it for their 'bitter' halves....hehehehe
