Happy Halloween's day. I present to you the cookies and the little chef Prutha.
A week back my daughter purchased this receipe book for Prutha(my granddaughter). Since then she was desperately waiting for this Saturday as I had promised to help her bake the cookies. She came here yesterday, set the alarm for 6 am today. Wakes up as soon as the alarm rings and wakes us all up. The project starts at 7 am and by 9 am the cookies are ready. She has a big contribution too, helped in kneading the dough, cutting the cookies and placing on the baking tray. She also wanted to handle the oven which we did not allow. So ultimately today her dream of baking the cookies has come true. Its such a pleasure to be a grandmother .
No trick...its just treat.... treat..... treat...

This day also reminds me of my first Halloween in the US way back in 1999 when I first visited chicago. I reached just a day before and at that time I had no clue about Halloween. I was amused at the way people buying cobwebs for $10 to decorate their houses. It was fun watching people in all sorts of weird costumes and that reminded me of our own Ammawari Sambaralu at Berhampur.
Hi Lakshmi, your post reaffirms the fact that somethings are beyond Mastercard
My Compliments to the Chief Chef. She surely has started young.
Everyone needs dough - But only a few knead dough and ensure the cookies are well done - Well done, Prutha!!
She is so cute Lakshmi. Way to go Prutha, they look so yummy!!!

Hello Debnath uncle, Arun uncle, Faiyaz Uncle, Naresh Uncle, Vimal Uncle and Seetha Aunty...thank you sooooo much. I can share my cookies with you only if u come to my ammamma's house na. you all are invited to my house also. Naresh uncle..thanks for counting the cookies for me. You can have 1 extra cookie for that. With lots of love ....yours affectionately Prutha.
I am yet to tell her to call all of you Tatas (grandpa) and ammammas.
Jhansi
Your proposal of 'Tatas' christening is OK for silvered haired like Vim and me. But there would be objection from other quarters the ' peppered ' ones ! Beware. Better let them be uncles !
And the amamma be ' aunties'.
There appears a little bit of u in her. Kudo to her.
Anywho, what about that Jatra we used to have in BAM (our own Halloween)? Bagho Nato, Pila Khia Dahani, and Sod Gajias? Once Dharma had donned Pila Khia Dahani "besa".
Not to mention those many Rama's and Krishna's on bicycles, with bills pinned to their clothing. And it used to culminate in a big gathering at Barkas, I mean Barracks.
Of course, there were some pretty innovative ones - I recollect a group of 9 portraying a dead hubby and 8 wives. The 8 wives were carrying the "dead" body while wailing and singing rhyming 2 liners, mostly about the "might and stamina" of their dearly departed ;-) Vulgarity at its purest.
