Ek Guzaarish....

Went to watch Guzaarish on a Sunday morning. Though I had an idea that this would be a sad movie....still went with an intention of getting entertained. It was some fabulous acting from all the actors specially Hrithik and fabulous direction from the director. Everything well in place. The subject...very touching.

I walked out of the theater embarrassed with swollen eyes trying to hide them with sunglasses. Later on realized almost 70 percent of the people walking out with sun glasses on. The question is...where is the entertainment? What is the idea of entertainment? Why we have to see so much pain even in a movie when there is enough outside.

My idea of entertainment is watching movies like Andaaz apna apna, 3 idiots, Chupke Chupke(Dharmendra wala) etc etc.

I have a Guzaarish to all the film makers...specially Sanjay Leela Bhansali to make films with wholesome entertainment. Films where people leave the theater with giggles and smiles. Films where people will remember and laugh over and over again.

Ek Guzaarish for our blogmates too. Keep blogging more frequently. Our blog is such a stress buster. Always something to look forward to.

Agree and disagree...
Yes Bhansali should stop making movies like Saawariya Neither entertaining nor a classic.

AUS - ENG 'Ashes' turned out to be pretty much boring. Watching pretty and interesting 'Aish's' imaginary drum beats act that beats everybody! (Udi song from Guzaarish) Will remain one of my favourites for all times to come..

Leave the cinema hall with giggles and not goggles, eh?

Beg to disagree. We should have an eclectic mix of both kinds of cinema to choose from, depending on one's mood.

Serious cinema, if well made can be really riveting...especially if one can relate to it. On the other hand, a good masala movie can work as a real stress buster.

Jhansi

u should tax your lacrimal glands once in a while.

Be it the melancholic way or a laugh riot. Either way copious tears flow.

And u know each drop so ejected by the fairer sex is valued @ a pearl from the gullible OYSTER.

And in the process you let go a lot of pearls !!!!

Its disappointing that even this is a copy. Spanish classic "The Sea Inside" with Javier Bardem.

There is a serious lack of originality in Indian everything. Maybe the next generation will be more innovative.

Laxmi, I couldn't agree with you more. This business of living is so bl**dy killing!!

(Sorry for the profanity, but had to use it for emphasis, wish I had a better vocab. If you read the newspapers everyday in Delhi, you'll know what I mean).

More power to cinema like 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron', or David Niven's 'The Brain', where you come out of the hall clutching your sides, they're aching so much.
Though I guess, as Faiyaz and Tasneem have said, maybe a little mix won't hurt anyone.

Omkar, originality? A rare commodity in 'Bolly wood'. Lot of both, though.....

Agree:

i did not see guzaarish for the same reason. there is no point shedding tears in a packed cinema hall. forget guzaarish the last time i saw a film where a dog died (Marle and Me) I not only could stop my tears but even made loud sniffing noises much to the embarassment of my wife and kids.

Disagree:

Life has to have sorrows for without it we will never value happiness and probably even the transient nature of everything in life. Kabhi Khushi kabhi Gam is part and parcel of everybody's life. So when the happy moments come let us laugh and enjoy, "kya pata kal ho na ho"

Ok ok ok...friends...I agree to what all of you agree and disagree. Agreed that we must adapt to the Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam phases of life. As Tasneem points out, depends on ones mood. Watching the movie is a matter of choice. Why watch and then crib about it later...hai na.

Faiyaz...Udi is my favourite too. Aish was superb.

Omkar...Bollywood or Indian everything is not as bad as you think. There are a lot of things where the western world copies from Indians. I feel when Indians do something in India it is not recognized as much as when the same Indian does in the west. Agree or disagree?

Sujata...nice couplet

Jab aap or Tasneemji agree toe hum kaise disagree ;-)

I guess all I was saying is that there is blatant plagiarism in Hindi movies (more so since 2000?), and if u halfway like a B-town movie, one begins to wonder if it could be a rip off. Examples are abundant. Nothing wrong in a remake after giving due credit.

This pattern also pervades some other walks of life.

Just my 2 cents.

I respect your view point, Omkar. You are entitled to it.
