This is not just another walk down the black and white memory lane. It is a unique scenario because the photo was taken when Mr. and Mrs. Giri had visited Berhampur when the former was the President of India. I guess my mom was the President of the Nari Seva Sadan. What is amusing is the seating arrangement. Notice that the President of the Nari Seva Sadan thought that she and not the prez of India, should be the 'center' of attention....LOL
Omkar and Toofan are here. See if any of you can locate yourselves or your parents...:-}

Ah ! convergence of the ' Presidents !!!
On close scrutiny I am able to locate two of my elderly Aunties.
1. G Simhalu - Just obstructing Hilu. She lived in Hanuman Bazar.
2. G.Lakshmi Narasamma - There's a lady with her head turned to the left on the top row near uvr MOM. A white blotch is seperating my Aunt in SPECS and the aforementioned lady.
She lived in Gadevari street , near Utkal cinema.
Guys,
And I thought I was bad - for only being able to remember most people only by faces and not by name. Alas!
The lady in white sari (seated and covering me) is Mrs. Krushnapriya Rath. She was a leader in the Swatantra party (used to have a pentagonal STAR symbol), that later assimilated into Cong-O.
The elegant looking tall lady (sitting, once removed from Ali aunty) is Mrs. Sukumar Das. The lady next to her is Mrs. Maharana.
Next to my mom (bottom row standing) is Mrs. Madan. Next to her is Mrs. Singh (Toofan's mom as well as that of Babu Singh, Kasturi Singh, Indira Singh). Next to her (moving rightwards) is Sujita's mom (rmrbr Sujita anyone? - my batch mate, very sharp girl, I guess left after 2nd std).
I also know the heavy set yet cute lady, and the old lady at the end of the row but names slip my mind.
I can also spot Mrs. Palit, Mrs. Gantayat, Mrs. Sarangi (wife of Dr. Akulananda Sarangi - who used to arrive at dinner parties so late, that kid u I not, I used to think "better never than late" befits some people).
And then some - there is Sohail Wahab, Babu Singh (is that Faiyaz next to him?).
I also see Tiki Nani (don't know her "English" name - she's NOT looking at the camera). I guess she was a Rath. I see Reena's mom.
I also remember the 2 beauties in the last row (do I have to specify further? ;-) ) They were a decade younger than "our moms". One fair, and the other not so fair.
The white blotch that starts with Babu Singh (there - I gave it away) and like a lighting rod, ends at the lady adjusting her glasses, there is a lady with white hair, thru whose face the white blotch passes. I remember her so very well, she was very nice to me. I also know that she is either Telegu or Tamil (as a kid I used to think that all South Indians are Telegu - in my small "world" ;-) )
Wow Omkar...!!
Nice pic! When was it taken, and at what venue?
Naresh: I'm so glad you could find few familiar faces....:-}
Omkar: I'm so glad you found more than a few familiar faces....I must say, your memory is amazing!! All those names were on the tip of my tongue but just could not place them. So thank you...:-}
Vim: I'm so with you. So another WOW to Hilu...:-}
Venu: This was taken out when Mr.Giri and his wife had visited Berhampur when he was the president. The venue I think is Nari Seva Sadan...where right now there is some school.
